UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!
April 4, 2013 - Sensical Words staff does routinely go back over articles we have posted about work at home or freelance sites to see if they are still up and running and what may have changed.
Guru, iFreelance and Flexjobs.com are all viable freelancing communities and growing.
Scriptlance is now part of Freelancer.
Homeworkers.com is no longer online

I think about 20 of the over 100 emails I get each week are about new sites offering legitimate work at home jobs, however upon investigation most of them are twisty windy pages of links to other pages where massive amounts of hoop jumping must take place to just get a line on a job that might include working at home. However there are some legitimate sites that offer work at home jobs that have been pre-screened and all the hoop jumping minimized.
The absolute best one that I have found is Homeworkers they have a very broad range of jobs available to the home or telecommuting worker, along with describing any software or requirements of the job you are looking for.
FlexJobs is another site that wades through the hoops of despair for you, legitimizing jobs offered, however FlexJobs requires a fee to gain access to their listings.
The site WorkatHomeJobs is actually presenting other freelance sites such as ScriptLance, Freelancer, Guru and iFreelance in an iframe situation so that if you do not want to search all those sites seperately you can use WorkatHomeJobs as a central location for searching.
Be careful, know that you might be investing some time in applying and sorting through all the job information to find the right opportunity for you. This is not for the faint of heart but you can be successful in your endeavors.
